The History Of Nepali Traditional Tattoos

For centuries, Nepali people have been getting traditional tattoos to express their culture, their identity and to honor their ancestors. Traditional Nepali tattoos, also known as “Lal Kitaar”, are created using a hand-tooled method and are applied with a paste made from soot and sugar. This method of tattooing has been used in Nepal since the 12th century and is still used today.
